BOP CEO Zafar Masud, Urban Unit CEO Khalid Sherdil among other passengers shifted to hospital: PIA plane crash

KARACHI: It is confirmed that Bank of Punjab (BoP) President and Chief Executive Officer Zafar Masud as well as Urban Unit CEO Khalid Sherdil were on the ill-fated flight that took off from Lahore on Friday and crashed in Karachi the same day.

According to sources, Masud and Sherdil were rushed to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Malir Cantt, where they are receiving treatment.

Sources said both the passengers were sitting in the front row of the plane on seats 1C and 1F, respectively.

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK 8303, an A320 Airbus, crashed in Model Colony, a residential neighbourhood, near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi at 2:37 pm.

The flight was carrying 99 passengers and 8 crew members from Lahore to Karachi. There is no immediate information on casualties. Civil and military officials have begun a rescue operation.

According to various unconfirmed reports, anywhere between 14 to 40 passengers have survived.

Zafar Masud was appointed the president and CEO of the BoP by the Punjab government via a notification issued on March 17.
