Discover Pakistan, Pakistan’s first and first-ever tourism-focused satellite TV station, went live on Saturday, as reported by the channel’s social media accounts, while also asking local cable operators to begin broadcasting the channel.
The channel broadcasts in HD – high definition – to better project the country’s natural wonders globally. The TV channel plans to accomplish this by original documentaries, coverage of tourism-related activities and trends, and a morning show emphasizing Pakistan’s positive profile.
The TV channel, which was praised in the announcement as a fulfilment of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, had been in the works since at least 2017, with plans to debut soon. Since then, the channel has promoted Pakistan’s scenic scenery, historical sights, and famous places to visit through its social media accounts, amassing a following of nearly a million on Facebook alone.
Discover Pakistan’s live streaming is accessible through its applications, which are available on the Google Play and Apple App Stores.
The growth comes as the incumbent government puts a heavy emphasis on tourism promotion in order to raise income from the tourism sector. Some of these projects include Pakistan’s first tourism incubation scheme for entrepreneurs, which was initiated in Abbottabad in 2017, the Punjab Tourism App, which was downloaded over 10,000 times in the first 24 hours, and the government’s involvement of local YouTubers to encourage tourism.
With the improvement of Pakistan’s security situation, initiatives to make foreign tourists more comfortable, and government policies, the tourism sector has seen unparalleled levels of success, with millions of international tourists flocking to the region.
