KARACHI: The passenger of an Indian flight from Sharjah to the Indian city of Lucknow fell ill and the plane was taken off to Karachi.
According to civil aviation sources, IndiGo Airlines Flight 6E1412 from Sharjah to Lucknow, India, entered Pakistani territory via Iran at 4 am as a passenger on board fell ill due to cardiac arrest.
Sources said that the captain contacted the air traffic control and sought permission to land the plane at Karachi airport on humanitarian grounds.
The plane made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi at 5 am with the permission of the authorities on humanitarian grounds.
According to aviation sources, 60-year-old passenger Habib-ur-Rehman Salman had died in the plane till emergency medical aid was provided.
Later, after confirmation of death and documentation by the doctor and necessary steps, Flight 6E1412 left Karachi for Ahmedabad at 8:36 am.
