Flooding is widespread in Saginaw County after heavy rains: County Officials
SAGINAW COUNTY, MI — Homes and roads have been flooded by heavy rains that drenched Saginaw County on Monday, May 18: Farmland.
Some roads have developed pools while others are swamped with flowing water, enough to sweep a vehicle off the road. Dozens of roads throughout Saginaw County were closed Tuesday, May 19, due to flooding, according to an ongoing list posted on the Saginaw County Road Commission’s Facebook page.
“Roads are opening and closing constantly even quicker than we can update them, It’s going to be different for every road.”
Lt. Mark Przybylski (Saginaw County Emergency Management Coordinator)
Motorists are urged to find an alternative route if met with a “Road Closed” sign blocking he way. If drivers are caught going around a barricade, it can result in traffic violation with a substantial fine, according to road commission officials.
