What is food allergy | What Is A Food Allergy?

When our body does not accept any particular type of food and drink and it is considered harmful for health, then the body starts reacting due to that. Food allergy is an immune reaction to certain types of food, indicating that there is something that is not suitable for our body. In such cases, an antibody called IgI is released into our body whenever an allergy (an allergenic chemical) is found in it and as a sign, our body shows signs of allergic reactions.

Here is a list of some foods as an alternative to allergic foods so that the body does not lack nutrients

1. Wheat allergy

Allergies to the most common wheat or wheat products. Wheat, being the staple grain, may be the most widely used grain as it is found in baked items such as chapatis, parathas, bread, pasta and cookies. Reading labels and keeping a close watch are helpful in managing this allergy. Replace traditional flour with oats, almond flour, tapioca, rice flour as an alternative to wheat, or in a variety of mixes of gram flour, ragi flour, millet flour, parmesan, or mango flour. Use flour.

2. Milk / lactose allergy

Milk can trigger allergies due to the presence of sugar known as lactose. People who have lactose allergy can consume almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, cashew milk, and oat milk. They are as nutritious as dairy milk and can act as a healthy alternative and can sometimes provide you with better nutrients.

3. Egg allergy

Some people may be allergic to the proteins present in eggs and may have allergic reactions such as hives, rashes, or respiratory problems within minutes after eating eggs or egg-based products. In the case of baking, an alternative to eggs may be mashed potatoes or apple puree. They give similar results and can be used as excellent binders when baking. While other egg options in terms of protein can be soy products, meat, fish and dairy products, lentils, and legumes.

4. Peanut Allergy

Commonly found peanuts can also cause allergic reactions. Almond butter can be taken as an alternative to peanuts. Almond butter has more or less equal health benefits and is full of vitamins and minerals. Sunflower seed butter can also be a great option.

5. Soy Allergies

Soybeans are highly protein rich with high fiber and vitamin content. A soy allergy should not stop you from getting the desired nutrient, especially protein. Lentils are rich in protein and full of other nutrients. Chiku, kidney beans, red beans and black beans may be used as a replacement for soybeans.

6. Tree Nut Allergy

Tea nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, pine nuts, tree nuts belong to the group and should be avoided if you are allergic to tree nuts. Tree nuts are nutritious and full of omega-3 fatty acids, but, if you are allergic to plant-based nuts, seeds can be a great option. Sunflower seeds can reduce the risk of heart disease and they also have anti-inflammatory properties. Pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, watermelon seeds, and chia seeds can be highly nutritious and a great source of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats.

Overall food allergies should not mean that your diet will be deficient in certain nutrients which are necessary for the growth and functioning of the body. Maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet may seem daunting in case of food allergy, but it is not impossible.
