It is offered under the DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme Masters Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance and focuses on subjects that are particularly important for their individual home countries’ social, political, and economic advancement.

According to the program’s specifics, a recipient of the DAAD scholarship within the Helmut-Schmidt-Programme will receive various perks, including:
- Tuition fees are waived.
- The current monthly scholarship rate is 934 € (Rs. 285,446).
- Contributions to German health insurance.
- Allowance for travel.
- Subsidy for study and research.
- Where appropriate, rent subsidies and/or allowances for spouses and/or children.
- Furthermore, all scholarship recipients will be expected to take a 6-month German language course to improve their language skills.
Criteria for Eligibility
To be considered for the scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a first-year university degree (or equivalent) in social and political sciences, law, economics, public policy, or administration.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to actively contributing to your native country’s or region’s social, political, and economic growth.
- Professional experience, internships, or political and social activity are all examples of valuable practical experience.
- Language abilities and language certificates necessary differ based on the master’s programme you choose to pursue.
- Each course has its unique set of admission requirements, which may include an academic degree, grades, language proficiency, and job experience. These criteria, in addition to the DAAD’s selection criteria, must be met.
Instructions for Appliction
To apply for the DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Program, please follow these steps:
- On June 1, 2023, applications will be accepted.
- Choose your master’s programme from the list of participating programmes.
- Apply directly to the universities that offer the master’s courses you want. Please do not submit your application to DAAD. Indicate your interest in the DAAD Helmut Schmidt-Programme (Master’s Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance). All eight universities will accept applications from 1 June to 31 July 2023.
