Hathras Case: CBI files chargesheet in special court against 4 suspects

On Friday, after almost three months of the horrific murder and suspected gangraphing of a 19-year-old woman in the Hathras of Uttar Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an indictment against four persons before a special SC/ST court in Lucknow. Under Sections 302 (murder), 354 (assault or criminal force against women in order to outrage her modesty), 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and related sections of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, the charge sheet was filed.
On 16 December, the CBI submitted to the Allahabad High Court that a chargesheet in the matter will be filed by 18 December.
The investigative agency also said that it would take the brother of the Hathras case survivor, who had registered the FIR in the case, to Gujarat for a psychological evaluation.
