HEC BANS MS, MPHIL, AND PHD PROGRAMS IN AFFILIATED COLLEGES

The Higher Education Commission has made a significant step to ensure the quality of M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. Admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in colleges has been prohibited. Admission is not permitted to colleges linked with public or private institutions. M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from associated colleges and institutes will not be certified by HEC.

HEC has issued a Student Alert about admissions to university-affiliated institutions. Admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs at public and private universities has been declared unlawful by the HEC, and students should avoid applying to these institutions. HEC has said unequivocally that MS/MPhil or Ph.D. degrees awarded by associated colleges or institutes of universities would not be acknowledged.

HEC issued a warning in this respect, stating that linked colleges/institutes are NOT permitted to provide Ph.D., MS/MPhil, or comparable degrees. Students are strongly cautioned NOT to enroll in any program offered by associated colleges/institutions, as the resulting degrees will NOT be recognized or attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). It is also recommended that connected colleges/institutes do not publicize admissions to Ph.D. and MS/MPhil/equivalent programs. Any such activity will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
