How to Decide Good Domain Names for Your Business

When you start your business online, one of the most important features to promote it is the domain name of your business. A domain name is a name by which your business will be known online. Here question arises how to Decide Good Domain Names for Your Business?
Decide Good Domain Names
Choosing a name for your domain is as important as naming your newborn baby because your business will be known by the same name throughout its life. There are many rules of thumb or guidelines to find a domain name that matches your business perfectly, which you can follow.
Previously, it was difficult to get the desired domain name because most popular and common words and other top level domain names were already taken on .com, .org. At the time of writing this post (2015), we had many options for domain name extensions like .guru, .mob, .co, .photo etc. Depending on the type of your business, you can choose the most appropriate domain name for your business. For example, you can be creative and choose slu.sh domain name instead of slush.com.
However, before taking any action, you should consider the name with which you want to be identified online.
While choosing the domain names for the company, you need to keep your brand in mind. Your name should be similar to brand name, but should also be constructed as “smart” and memorable name. If your company name is Royaler Info Ltd, you can select names like Royaler.com or RoyalerTech.com or Royalerinfo.com (subject to availability, of course).
Keywords and name:
Choose at least 10 keywords and 5 random popular words related to your niche. Raabta gives you a list of all available domain names, by randomizing your given keywords.
Domain names:
Being a new blogger, the task of figuring out which domain name extension you should choose may seem confusing to you. From my experience, (and based on the general overall consensus of professionals), you should first choose a .com domain and if your chosen name is not available in the .com version, then .org is the second-best option. Otherwise, you can choose domain name extension from new gTLDs like .guru, .photo, .co and many more. You can see here for new domain name extensions. But remember that it is most beneficial for you to create a domain name using .com extension.
Easy to remember:
Let’s remember the school days. How difficult was it to remember names that were difficult to type? For example: whoossaazt! Can you remember its name and how to spell it?
Now see my domain name: Raabta — Raab- Ta. Can you see the difference?
Think of a name that is easy to remember and type. Such names should be avoided, which are easy to pronounce but when you type them, they can create confusion in spelling.
Copyright infringement!
Before choosing a new domain, make sure that you are not violating any existing brand copyright policies. For example, WordPress does not allow you to have a domain name that includes “WordPress”. If you do this, then be prepared to get an official letter. (But they allow you to use the name “WP” included instead of “WordPress”).
Don’t use hyphens or special characters
If you are creating a niche blog and are looking for a keyword-rich domain, then it is best to stay away from hyphens domain names. Till a few years ago it was easy to rank hyphenated domain name, but now it is not so. If you look at the current ranking system, you can clearly understand that it is better to search for other domains than to use the name hyphen included.
Sometimes people suggest that you should choose your domain name according to the niche of your blog. But this is not very good advice for those who are looking for domain names with words like “tech” and “blog”, for example, tech tip, tech blog, blogger tips etc. Thousands of blogs and websites that use such names already exist on the Internet. For this reason alone, it is best to choose a name that can become a part of a distinctive brand for you in the future.
