Karachi breaks 10-year record for cold snap

KARACHI: A ten-year record of cold snap was broken in Quaid-e-Azam city on the first day of the year.

The city began this year with a 10-year cold spell. Today’s temperature was the lowest in ten years. According to the Meteorological Department, Siberian winds made the city’s weather even colder. The minimum temperature recorded in the city today was 5.6. Earlier in 2014, the temperature was recorded at 6.5.

The Meteorological Department said that the weather in the city is likely to remain dry and cold during the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature will be between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius. The winds are blowing from the north at a speed of 10 km per hour in the city.
