Karachi University is planning to open a medical school

Karachi University is planning to open a medical school.Karachi University (KU) has made an important step towards establishing a medical college within the university by constituting a committee. This committee is in charge of ensuring that all legal requirements and other formalities for the foundation of the KU Medical College are met. These relevant components will subsequently be submitted to Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi, Vice Chancellor (VC).

Professor Iraqi emphasised that Karachi University has been actively working with generous individuals and organisations to help develop its hospital. The goal is to complete this initiative quickly and successfully.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KU and the National Institute of Kidney and Urological Diseases Hospital has resulted in an important development. This project, led by the Kidney Foundation, intends to provide emergency, cardiac, diagnostic, outpatient department, and radiological services to KU faculty, employees, their families, and staff. The Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed at the VC Secretariat.

The VC further stated that admissions to the faculty of medicine will be announced in the future academic years. It is worth noting that medical classes will be held on campus, and cooperation with various institutions will be developed to meet additional requirements for the completion of the medical degree until KU’s hospital opens.

Furthermore, a prominent social worker and philanthropist, Dr Nadira Panjwani, has generously given her support to the University’s administration for the construction of a hospital on campus. This contribution demonstrates KU’s dedication to improving medical facilities.
