National Highway Authority (NHA), with the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, has launched an internship program allowing training to educated youth in different sectors of the construction industry. In the first year of the internship, as many as 12,000 graduates will be given training in both paid and non-paid categories.
The internship will be offered to the students from the following fields:
- Civil Engineering,
- AutoCAD Operator,
- Lab Technician,
- Material Engineering,
- Environmental and Safeguard Trainee
In the first phase of the program, there would be 1-month non-paid internships. The second phase will be comprised of 3-month paid training with valuable experience guaranteeing a job offer. The program will also be suitable for the students studying in the final year of their degree or diploma.
After completion of the training, all NHA firms, authorities and builders will be necessitated to hire technically qualified interns for at least 1-year. The students will be involved in NHA’s 40 projects brought out under the Public Sector Development plan 2019-20.
It must be considered here that Murad Saeed (Minister for Communications and Postal Services), has also declared an internship program following Pakistan Post that will train 35,000 youngsters between the age of 20-30 years.
