California: Photo-sharing application Instagram will now require users to pay to view hidden posts.
In a new update for creators on Instagram, Instagram Chief Executive Adam Mosseri announced that creators will now be able to publish feed posts that will only be visible to people who are subscribers.
Previously, this feature was only applicable to stories, but Adam Mosseri said that the company received the most requests for this feature. This feature will also apply to Rails.
According to Adam Mosseri, creators will be able to direct message up to 30 subscribers at a time to engage with fans in a meaningful way.
An Instagram subscription will cost between $0.99 and $99.99 per month and will have a subscriber home on the creator’s profile where users can view specific content.
The company’s chief executive said it’s a step in a long way, with the tools being rolled out to thousands of creators in the US.
