Karachi: A decision on the proposal to open educational institutions across the country in phases from January 25 will be taken on Monday.
Under the federal government, a proposal has been made to open educational institutions across the country in three phases and this time in the first phase, it has been decided to open primary schools across the country. Any decision on the proposal will be taken at the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference on Monday, January 4, which will be chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood and attended by education ministers from all four provinces.
In this regard, according to the agenda of the conference received by “Express”, the decision to reopen educational institutions in all four provinces of the country will be taken on the basis of health advisory, keeping in view the cases. In this regard, it has been suggested to the conference that in the first phase, public and private primary schools across the country should be opened from January 25, 2021, while in the second phase, middle / secondary schools should be opened from February 4 and in the third phase, higher middle / secondary. And similar educational institutions should be opened.
An Education Department official told the Express: “The proposal to open a primary school in the first phase is under consideration because, according to the data received, the country has the lowest number of children affected by covid and the number of covid minor children. Unlike other age groups, however, the education official said that all three dates for the reopening of the school were proposed and that if the situation in Kuwait continued to deteriorate, it would be reconsidered on January 19 by blocking an inter-provincial education ministers’ conference. However, any decision in this regard will be made keeping in view (the national trend of avoiding the disease and the number of patients in hospitals and the current pressure on the country’s health system).
In addition, according to the agenda set for the meeting to be held on January 4, it is proposed to start examinations at the level of schools and boards across the country from the end of May or early June, before the completion of academic course work. Similarly, the duration of summer vacations will be reduced and the new academic year will start from August 2021.
It should be noted that after being open for almost two and a half months, the educational institutions across the country were closed again from November 26, 2020 and after keeping them closed till January 10, it was announced to reopen from January 11. I reopened on September 15 after closing.
