Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay a one-day visit to Lahore today. Where he will also chair various meetings.
During his visit to Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar and Governor Chaudhry Sarwar will call on the Prime Minister. Usman Bazdar will brief on the political and administrative affairs of the province.
The Chief Minister will present the performance of the Punjab Provincial Government to the Prime Minister. The reasons for PTI’s defeat in the Punjab cantonment elections will also be considered.
Meetings with local officials are also scheduled for the Prime Minister’s visit to Lahore.
It may be recalled that a meeting on local body affairs was held in Punjab on Tuesday, September 14 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Shafqat Mahmood, Khusro Bakhtiar, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Monis Elahi, Provincial Minister for Food Abdul Aleem Khan and relevant senior officials, while Punjab Local Government Minister Mian Mahmood Rasheed Attended the meeting via the link.
The Punjab government briefed the Prime Minister on the new local government model in the province.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that local government is the basic structure of democracy. Democracy is incomplete without a strong local government system. Ensure direct election of local body representatives, take steps to hold local body elections in Punjab immediately
