Chennai: Karima Begum, mother of world-renowned musician AR Rehman, has met Khaliq Haqiqi in India after a short illness.
According to the International News Agency, Karima Begum, the mother of Indian musician and singer AR Rehman, had been ill for a few days and died at a hospital in Chennai.
Due to the early death of her husband, it was Karima Begum who raised the children. AR Rehman became ill as a child and if there was no money for medical treatment, his mother used to go to the shrine from where the well-known musician recovered.
After the recovery of the children, Karima Begum’s devotion to the shrine increased and she, along with her two children, converted to Islam at the feet of the shrine.
After converting to Islam, AS Dilip Kumar was nicknamed ‘Allah Rakha Rehman’ by the Pir of the Dargah who later became known as AR Rehman while his mother’s name Karima was also kept in the Dargah.
