Schools will not be able to reopen on January 11: Punjab Education Minister

Punjab Education Minister Murad Rass on Tuesday said that schools in the province may remain closed for some more time in view of the Corona virus epidemic situation in the province.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the retirement system for teachers in the province, Provincial Education Minister Dr Murad Ross raised the issue of closure of schools across the province. “I personally want to reopen the schools but it is not possible for the schools to reopen on January 11. Given the current situation, we may have to abide by the decision to extend the closure of schools,” the provincial minister said. He said that the provincial government had postponed the fifth class examinations as per the assessment policy.

Explaining the Punjab government’s decision, he said that when it came to the fifth class examinations, the teachers were helping the students in cheating.

The provincial education minister added that the Private Schools Act would be sent to the cabinet for approval. He said the legislation would be approved by the government within three months.
