Solution to the 50-year-old problem of protein folding with artificial intelligence

New York: Folding is a complex biological process that experts have been considering for some time. The complex process of folding could not have been solved without supercomputing and distributing computing, but now, thanks to Deep Mind AI (Artificial Intelligence), the mystery has been solved in a matter of hours.

What is Protein Folding?

Protein folding is a natural process in our body where long chains of proteins are arranged in a three-dimensional (3D) manner. We all know that if this protein is formed properly, it is good for the body, otherwise wrong folding can lead to dangerous diseases.

But this complex mystery has not been solved for a long time. Now the 3D structure of protein folding can be predicted thanks to the Deep Mind developed by Google’s Alphabet Company. In this way, it can tell what kind of protein comes into being and it has solved the problem of half a century that has been bothering scientists.
Proteins begin with a single ribbon and eventually form a complex 3D shape. At this point, the artificial intelligence software looks at the first protein play for a while and actively predicts what the 3D folding will look like. Similarly, the process of computing can tell how proteins are made of amino acids. AI thus outlines its next unimaginable situation.

Scientists have been struggling with the problem of protein folding since the 1970s. Some people thought that it would take a universe-like age to perform the calculations required, which obviously spans billions of years.

In 2018, the project was launched. This project is called Alpha Fold. It was very good at the time but now it has accelerated. When 170,000 protein structures were placed in front of the Alpha Fold and the database was displayed, it predicted protein folding with 92.4% accuracy under a fully developed protocol, which is a significant milestone.
