Soon, GC University Lahore will have a New Department

The Board of Studies of Government College University Lahore has approved the formation of a new educational department, the Syed Babar Ali Department of Education. This department will provide a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including a BEd Hons, MPhil in Education, and a BEd in Special Education.
The decision to name the department after acclaimed alumni, famous educationist, and philanthropist Syed Babar Ali was made unanimously during a Board of Studies meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi, according to a recent news release. The gathering, which was attended by foreign and internal subject specialists, aimed to recognise Syed Babar Ali’s major contributions to education, health, and social welfare.
During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Prof Zaidi emphasised the significance of this decision in improving education quality in Pakistan. He voiced his belief that the Syed Babar Ali Department of Education would usher in a new era of teacher education, fueled by innovative teaching methods and significant research.
Recognising society’s growing demand for talented educators, Prof Zaidi underlined the institution’s commitment to providing the resources and opportunity needed to satisfy this demand. The new department’s creation intends to foster a new generation of educators capable of making important contributions to the area of education.
In the future, the Vice-Chancellor expressed excitement about the arrival of the first cohort of students in Autumn 2023. He emphasised the significance of working together to achieve the shared goal of providing top quality education throughout Pakistan.
