Karachi: Kund Malir is a large island off the coast of Balochistan.
According to WWF Pakistan, Kund Malirka is located 41 km from Karachi. The island emerged off the coast of Kund Malir, Balochistan. The island, which suddenly emerges from the sea floor, covers a large area.
According to WWF Pakistan Technical Adviser Moazzam Khan, these islands in the ocean are formed due to geographical alterations in deep waters. Most islands reappear shortly after emergence.
WWF Pakistan, a technical adviser, said that a tsunami (earthquake) had been recorded near Kund Malir on November 29, 1945. The mountainous island, which appeared from deep water in 2010, disappeared again two months later. Another underwater island was observed in 2000.
