Washington: New US President Joe Biden says sanctions on Iran cannot be lifted before nuclear deal is renewed

According to the International News Agency, the new US President Joe Biden has made the lifting of sanctions on Iran conditional on the renewal and implementation of the nuclear deal, but it is not clear whether Iran or the United States will take the initiative to return to the agreement.

During his presidential campaign, Biden reiterated that he would soon return to a nuclear deal with Iran and prevent Iran from violating uranium enrichment and stockpile limits.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Iran would abide by the terms of the nuclear deal until sanctions on Iran were lifted.

After which Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif urged the European Union to use its influence to include the United States in the nuclear deal and to lift sanctions on Iran.

On the other hand, top officials in the Biden administration told Reuters that US policy on Iran would not change. If Iran abides by the nuclear deal, then the United States will join the nuclear deal.

The United States, Britain, Russia, China, France and Germany signed a nuclear deal in 2015 to prevent Iran from enriching uranium, but former US President Trump unilaterally withdrew from the deal in 2018 and Iran In response, Iran also violated certain provisions of the agreement
