During a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub said that the previous government had planted landmines which meant mandatory payments, whether to spend electricity or not. That by 2023 these mandatory payments will be Rs. 1455 billion. The PML-N has deliberately made all these agreements and set up factories under malicious intent.
Energy Minister Omar Ayub said that despite the IMF program during the Corona era, a subsidy of Rs 473 billion was given. In the most difficult period, the power sector was subsidized. They are applying for NEPRA while this increase is many times more due to wrong decisions of PML-N.
Planning Minister Asad Omar said that in the context of the economy, I want to talk about electricity, for a few months now there has been good news about the economy and the economy is improving, exports and production of large industries are increasing. In the light of PML-N’s decisions, it was necessary to increase the price by Rs 9 per unit, but PTI did not do so.
It may be recalled that this month alone, the government had increased the electricity prices by Rs 1.6 per unit for October. 76 paise per unit has been increased for November.
